Autumn Tune / Toune d'Automne

"How are you, my little sister? Come, let me hold you in my arms.” This is how Toune d’Automne, a song by the famous Quebec folk band Cowboys Fringants, begins. Since 2020, however, Toune d’Automne has also been the name of a climbing route opened by Didier and Nicole Berthod on the legendary summit of Petit Clocher du Portalet. The first meters were climbed in 2020, but the route was only completed in the fall of 2024. In the meantime, Nicole had to face one of life’s toughest challenges, a battle with breast cancer. Didier could have finished the project alone but instead he chose to wait until his “little sister” regained her full strength so they could complete it together and finally “hold each other in their arms” at the summit of Petit Clocher du Portalet. Toune d'Automne is a story of climbing, the unbreakable bond between siblings, resilience and hope in the face of life's challenges.
